The Problem

Over the years, we have worked with 1000's of CEOs and business leaders that are trying to move their companies to new levels. Those levels can be: Penetrating new markets, developing new products, or better serving their customers. But many companies find themselves instead just trying to survive the month or quarter. Lack of growth equals death. It is as fundamental a rule as what the grass is doing in your yard. We are all going in one direction or the other. Are we leaving it all to chance?

Business leaders are smart people. You don't get to start and/or stay in business unless you have a reasonably good head on your shoulders. I'm assuming you are in business and want to grow or are currently growing. The question is: Where is the bottleneck to all important growth? And how can you leap that barrier in the most effective manner?

The first place to look is your vision. No, I'm not talking about running out to get your eyes checked. I'm suggesting you think about where you want your business to be in 5+ years. Do you want to be the biggest and best at something in your area or industry? Do you want to transform your industry? Do you want to be the dominant player? More than likely you would say 'yes' to at least one of these questions and want to be there sooner rather than later.

Vision is the lynchpin connecting the rest of your management tools. Strategy flows from vision and will help you define the products and markets that your company will be the best in. It's what drives performance at the highest business level. Accurately defining yearly goals and operating budgets will help you manage near-term resources to develop your products and attack your markets.

100% of business leaders have a vision or expected future state for their business. But 95% of them fail to ever achieve their vision! The primary reason for failure, over 85%, is because that vision is not implemented because it is left to chance. The other 15% of failures occur because the vision is unclear or poorly conceived. This is enough to frustrate any business leader and relegate them to the uncertainty of living quarter to quarter - simply hoping things turn out all right. Not exactly the most scientific of approaches!

The simple answer to the vision failure rate and associated growth issue is: Develop a good and clear vision and then strategically implement it. Easier said than done, yes. But at Upstream Texas we have identified the eight common barriers to success and provide practical ways to overcome them and turn your dreams for business into a reality by leaving nothing to chance! Fast.

  1. Accomplishing Goals
  2. "Chance for Success" Approach
  3. Lack of Commitment
  4. Lack of Accountability
  5. Procrastination
  6. Service Delta
  7. Lack of Vision
  8. Lack of Concentration

The key to your success lies in your ability to overcome these barriers. Upstream Texas services have been carefully designed to help you do just that.
